Step 1
- Fill a large pitcher halfway with ice cubes to keep the drink cold and refreshing.

Step 2
- Pour the fresh lemon juice and orange juice into the pitcher over the ice.

Step 3
- Add the simple syrup. Start with a smaller amount and adjust later depending on how sweet you want the drink.

Step 4
- Pour in cold water or lemon-lime soda. Soda will give the drink a fizzy finish while water creates a lighter citrus flavor.

Step 5
- Stir everything gently with a long spoon until the ingredients combine evenly.

Step 6
- Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness if needed by adding a little more syrup.

Step 7
- Pour the drink into highball glasses filled with ice.

Step 8
- Garnish each glass with a lemon or orange slice and serve immediately while chilled.

Notes
For the best flavor, I always use freshly squeezed lemon juice. Bottled juice works if needed, but fresh citrus gives the drink a brighter and cleaner taste.
If serving for a party, I usually mix the citrus juices and syrup ahead of time and store them in the fridge. Then I add soda and ice just before serving so the drink stays fizzy and refreshing.
